This will just about come to most people at some stage in life

INERTIA

You are as young as you feel, so the old saying goes,
Birthdays come and birthdays go and so the time onward flows,
The passing of the years is not such a big event,
, Until one day You wonder where all those years went,

As a young person you want to make the years fly,
Come on, hurry up, why wont the year pass quickly by,
I’ve got things to do, places to see I must fill every day,,
I can’t afford to stop now to let time just pass away,,

The years roll on until at last you’ve reached that mature age,,
The age of reason so some say , seeking your opinion, as a sage,
The hair starts graying and you bear the weight of many years,.
You look around and think, I’m doing better than my peers,

Now the years pass on with ever increasing haste,
Retirement comes and goes, inertia finds its place,
The many thing s you did before don’t seem so important now,
I’ll do them one day you protest, that’s if time will allow,
So time goes on and the time to do things, never arrives somehow,

The stage is reached at last when memories flood the mind,
It’s the only thing to do now, just a way to pass the time,
When others ask the question , do you ever feel your age,
You nod and quietly answer, “it’s just another stage”.

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
