Green Lace
(swap quatrain poem)
And trees in spring, of soft green lace,
are budding out around the place.
The birds perch high on boughs and sing
of soft green lace, and trees in spring.
The mighty oak, decked out in bloom,
of verdant threads disperses gloom
of winter; in its crocheted cloak,
decked out in bloom, the mighty oak.
Where maple stands in my front yard,
its branches bare, by winter scarred—
each greening branch holds summer's plans
in my front yard, where maple stands.
Soft lace of green on bursting limbs,
with spring and summer's promise brims.
The leaves will come where buds are seen
on bursting limbs, soft lace of green.
