Of all the wonders that are you,
it is the smell of your skin
that defines you so completely.
Beneath the fresh sweetness of your soap,
your scent, unmistakably male,
speaks to me of passion, tempered with gentleness.
I inhale the exotic spice of your experience,
tinged with wisdom from the dust of the world
where you have traveled.
And beneath it all, like a melody's refrain,
floats the faintest savor of the sea—
whose salty zest will forever season
the endless blue of our love.
This is writing at its best!
Absolutely superlative…
As I read it I thought of my husband,
who I lost thirteen years ago…and it
drew me closer to him as I remembered
all the things you speak of…
This is quite possibly the very best tribute to the mystery of LOVE
that I have ever read! "spice of experience", "wisdom from the dust of the world", "endless blue of our love"- perfection, Katharine, absolute perfection!
So happy to welcome you to Authors Den; the bright promise of your poetic gift will surely inspire us all!
