It's a Rhetoric on how people do things and enjoy doing them even if they are known to be harmful to them!

Poem Artwork

How can people,

Sell themselves so short,

Just to reach a Pseudo high,

They get from a killer snort?

How can people smoke,

N’ Puff until they’re blue,

N’ damage their own bodies,

In ways they can’t undo?

How can people,

be such fools,

to drink till the blood,

in their warm veins cools?

How can people,

Like cattle, blindly chew,

On stuff that risks their lives,

And kills them without a clue?

How can people,

Dare to do a line,

Stick needles in their bodies,

and turn their blood to brine?

How can people,

for such cheap fun fall,

don’t they see it leads,

only to their downfall?

Wake up people, wake up,

Open your eyes to the truth,

Be no slave to your tendencies,

Or they’ll rule without ruth.

A question as old as time Narayan and each answer brings about more questions. ???

I can well understand and relate to this poem, Narayan. I followed the road of booze, little pills that made me feel I was Superman and sliding those steel rods into my veins. How I lived ling enough to break the habits is a miracle. Good poetry.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
