Lost Love

Wrote this one back in 1993.

 

Remember the times when you were in my arms, 
We thought, this could last forever.
     Now all my dreams are swept away but your memory still remains.
     Now once again I'm on my own, you know it's now or never.
     To start my life all over again while your memory still remains.
 
The years go by and your image fades,
Many lovers in between.
     Their names and faces have blurred with time, opportunities lost and gone.
     Nowadays I see your face in a photograph or dream.
Or I’m reminded of you by a scent or taste, or the lyrics of a song.

We all have lost loves and sometimes they come back at the strangest times and haunt us.

I think all of us at one time or another ask WHAT IF? How different would life be if we'd taken that turn or this turn. Excellent writing!

Feelings from a lost love can be instantaneously brought to life by an aroma, or music...or as you say a taste..No matter how many years go by, this always remains...Once we have loved we are permanently changed....
