The Monsoon Arrives

(An English language version of a Chinese style of poetry)


Last night I was awakened to the sound of thunder and rain. The monsoon has arrived.

This morning the sun burst through my window and blinded me as I rose.

A new season has arrived an old one passed but my worries remain the same.

Outside the window a butterfly rejoices in the heat and humidity. Why can’t I be like him?
