confusion becalmed
The quotidian meridian
divides us by default -
Waterside observers
who halt and falter
Staunch in our disarray
Reptilian in vermilion
with gummy gorse yellow teeth
Our deposed resistant monarch
governs crooked creases
In living folk mysteries
Steam billows as smoke
from cottage kettles
Listing chimneys, though listed
betray the crooked longitudes
Of dismissal
Guide us O thy great deceiver
to the fortune foretold
In that furrowed palm
and offer alms that have no housing
In a cornfield that holds no charm
Beneath, at least, a sky that bears no harm

Among the misty references in the poem I gather that you're talking about the recent event where a new pope has been installed and all the worship-hungry masses no longer are confused without a father figure to guide them in their daily life. Nicely disguised, but very meaningful.
