Splashing interwoven patterns high
For the multitudes to envision
On our national celebration
Of times of patriotic courage
During the birth of our great nation

By each one of us as we observe

It is strange that we celebrate the imitation of war. But then, bright lights and explosions always set off adrenaline which probably heightens our perspective of patriotism. The volleys on Memorial Day always scared me–set my heart pounding. I guess that's why I have shied from war while I enjoyed hunting.
