That small carnivourous creature
the rat of insecurity
is devouring my inner calm.
His voracity dispelling
as he gnaws deeper and stronger
than my defenses to repel him.
My external mask subsiding
eroding away by degrees
crumbling at your prescence.
The barrier of my fortress
has been breeched by your touch and kiss
dare I retreat, where can I hide.
The defeats of my memory
infect and plaque my awareness
the rodent is insatiable.
Mayhap I should reconsider
is the option still possible
only the winds of time know.

Yes, memories ride high within the winds of time..Only time knows..
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
