Remberence of 2003

Poem Artwork

Standing outside these blue stone monoliths
arranged here in full concentric circles.
By those unkown from long past ancient times
on this elevated open hillock.

Decades ago I sat among the stones
and felt thier mysterious cantations.
My soul could drift and wander back ages
to visualize generations labor.

Masons carving them out of mother earth
with sweat, sinew and stoneage tools on rock.
Then multitudes hauling them to this place
using muscle, blood and tears over years.

Ritualistic direction to construct
for alignment with the cosmic events.
Sun, moon, stars follow the design patterns
for religious predictions of mystery.

Now we can sit or stand at a distance
and walk or take photos of this treasure.
We can look in the distanceat others
but just wonder at those ancient builders.

Hi Budd, I was in the USAF for 24 years. I spent 3 in England but never visited Stonehenge. Your poem took me to a place that I never been but I can see it now through this poem. Thank you and God Bless!
