I hope his mate wasn't taken by an owl. I've often wondered why some birds like chickadees, crows, sparrows and cardinals stick around all winter when they could fly south like the other birds. It's amazing how their small bodies can withstand the cold.

There is something very catchy about this poem, especially the way you have chosen to fix words together, like: "Yearns for her, lady everything" I really like that line. ~~ Diana
Interesting perspective and eloquently written, Budd. It bespeaks of a vigil, awaiting the return his lady cardinal's return. This is such a serene and calming piece of writing and it has calmed my presence.
