Flesh Tones

A lady from church approached me
several months ago.
She’s my kind of girl, not in the whirl of
circles and the status quo.

She’s lovely and lean with long blonde hair.
She plays on a softball team.
She rides horses and lives in a rustic house
with no “appropriate” color scheme.

She doesn’t fit the “church lady” mold
although she’s a serious believer.
She knows to apply, “just say no”
when the females try to retrieve her.

This lady from the church approached me
and asked if I would paint her nude.
I said, “sure” it would be something different.
Who cares if “they” think it’s crude.

So I went out to her farm, camera in hand
and she dropped her robe on the ground.
She was not shy and neither was I.
She stood, sat, and casually lay down.

Her husband would love this she told me
that day. It would be a surprise for her hon.
But I just wonder, when their friends come over
will they have to call nine one one?

I sense a bit, more than a bit, of humor here. Having trouble with the relaxed reference to natural art being of a '911' quality. Was she ugly?

Great write here Janet, particularly the 911 part. For I felt much the same way once when posing for a class at the local college and the campus security guard opened the door which faced the street to tell someone they left their lights on...I enjoyed this write very much...thanks for sharing it.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
