What can I write, since I’m not depressed?
Do I write about sunshine and being so blessed?
Shall I drip with honey and never berate?
Such precious and sweet things I’ll pontificate.
I sleep until ten and wake up jammin.’
It’s been ages since I had my head examined.
My counselor finally just let me go.
Our discussions were upbeat, blow by blow.
I’m “little miss pleasant” with a constant grin.
It’s been a year since my stay in the looney bin.
But there may be a dark cloud on it’s way to hover
because if it’s not one thing----it’s my mother.
Janet my dear friend, this is just plain CUTE. I know you are feeling great these days and I'm thinking you might just be getting better at handling that Mom as your OWN mood and feelings "inflate" and blossom so HANG IN THERE!
wow... don't know whether to laugh or cry, but this sure is powerful, Janet. just bask in the glow when it's here and don't worry 'bout the changing light, shadows or mummie dearest. and DO take care! Dawn
I find myself being Eileen's echo today about the Den! :)) I love the upbeat and confident nature of this, Janet - notwithstanding the final twist. Yes, it seems our pen flows best with turmoil and disturbance - and that we "fake" it, or feel unauthorised to write if we just want to shed "happy thoughts" round the place! Thankfully, many great and classic poets thought and felt differently - like Keats and Browning, perhaps. And this is a very accomplished and legitimate write in a "happy" class all its own! :)) And we just can't help our nature's can we... "Little Miss Pleasant" was just born with a smile on her face! :)) Good to hear - and even humour will very much help to deflect the dark clouds that hover over muvers... oh dear... maybe that's a joke toooo far... LOL and bless you, Little Miss Sunshine! LOL Kloudy Kate xx

Sigh. I am so happy to hear the good news. Keep that other item in perspective, Janet.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
