WOW!! This is breathlessly passionate and feeds into the confusion of painful emotions so well, Janet. Love the fast-flow and sense of momentary impressions that flood in; the helplessness, the sense of grief, denial and anger. So well-stated in a minimalist kind of way but saying so much. Powerful and wide-reaching, this is excellent. The message is devastating and the final stanza a great summation. Bless you - and I do so hope this is not founded on a real experience. LOL Kate xx
Janet,
It's always sad when one so young leaves this world, leaving so many questions of why in the minds of those that are left behind. If we knew...would we alter our minds and hearts..ofcourse we would. Every day should be lived as though it's our last, and live it to the fullest.
You've shed light not only on the pain, but the need to understand that death is a part of living.
Death waits for no one.
Death is the companion of life and comes in all shapes and sizes, and visits all ages. This is a profound look at the aftermath and how we seem never to have learned to come to terms with it. Fine writing Janet!
Love,
Eileen

This is good. You went into the poem with thhe homey feel, tossled sheets, body impression outlined on the mattress. Then you gave us the true meaning of your words, the price we all must pay for being born, dying. Some of us live much longer than we really should is my belief, and some, like this youg rider, leaves much, much too early. Seems there is something wrong with this picture of untimely death.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
