Payne's gray pavement.
White lines travel through the center
of bleak asphalt.
Contrasting strips look connected
from a distance
but the monotonous repetitive patterns
quickly break apart and disappear
behind moving vehicles.
Spheres of lights flicker
against black mountains.
Thin utility lines flow with hills and valleys
then abruptly extend to the other side,
crisscrossing patterns of fragility.
A sepia photograph on a sunless day
a moment in time printed on Kodak paper
and burned around the edges.
your images capture the moment so intensely i felt as if i was there gazing over the hills and valleys peering into the parched parameters of a kodak moment ...
you are a master of this kind of write - and you handle this subject well; I remember another in the car sort of write I loved... especially admire the way you set the scene and scenery so expertly and then give us the context (i.e. the sepia photograph) with just the right detail (i.e. burned around the edges). hope you had a wonderful Christmas and time's highway leads you to peaceful abundance in the new year!
