He Missed It

Don't allow money to blind you to true beauty and caring.

He was busy counting money
Hummingbird the rarest kind
Went unnoticed by the rich man
Balances were on his mind

Many people wished to see one
Ruby throated most have we
But this rarest hummingbird was
Missed because he could not "see"

He was busy counting money
Only thing that's on his mind
Then that hummingbird it flew away
And he just didn't mind

Only walk our own path one time
Treasure everything you meet
Notice loveliness before you
Money just can not compete

Sure we've got to make a livin'
Don't get blinded by the green
You will miss that hummingbird for sure
The one you've never seen

Like bees, hummingbirds have increasingly become rare. If anything, that would make most people strive to catch a glimpse of these creatures. Great sentiment and great writing. Bob

One of the great lessons of life. We can't buy happiness and the best things in life are free. So, through poems like yours, hopefully the world will continue to have more hummingbirds and less money.

So true, so true. I think we all know at least one person like that. Money might make you comfortable, but it can't buy true happiness.
