One of my DARKER writes, hence the color and font...

Inquisition…

Not from my point of view or my position,

Torture & pain the infliction,

Fear & flight there is only,

Revealing is the investigation,

Not able to withstand close inspection…

Scrutiny done be a leader of none,

His job he did partake to be mostly fun,

Mayhem he did indulge in,

Take he did even his only son,

Landowner was he, why he got the job,

Only one to be trusted to make them sob…

Kill them all; let the lord sort them out,

Those that are witches or even slightly about,

Breed fear in the populace; make them move out,

Take their lands, their livestock, their children thrown out…

Fear of the whip, the fire so high,

Bringing death from the skin burning on the bone,

Alive they need to be burned, chasing the evil out of their home,

Who says they are evil, they may just need to be grown,

So many dead, so many killed,

Will the inquisitor find refuge within the gates,

Of heaven when he does go on himself,

Or will he burn in the fires of hell, finding out too late…

I like this. Reminds me of some of mine, I wrote a story called Inquisition back in 1999. I might wind up rehasing it to make it longer but not sure though. It is a dark and menacing wright -- very researched as well.

AHEM! Mr. Matlack.. did I just read you telling me to slow down on posting so you could float around and read? Well, aren't you the cheeky one, while you merrily post something new every 2 or 3 minutes? hehehe.. and a grand LOL ! And then you toss the likes of this beauty up there, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading, and here it's past my bedtime so I read it twice, just to show you who's paying attention! lol. Jaysus, Eddy, dear... my brain is fading into the wallpaper and you're lively and clever and composing like mad! Ah, well... this is a grand addition to your den of poems. Yes, indeed! Say goodnight, Dick! Sweet dreams... katy xox.
