HOrror as this is particularly horrific to the family, adopted of me since I was quite young, prayers would be appreciated as you can surely understand how bad this is...ed

Burned to the Ground…

Not exactly a home of family,

But so close as to be so,

Away on vacation, their home it burned,

A great family tragedy as it was so old and learned…

The home, one of the first in Sea Isle,

Owned and lived in by this family since its inception,

Recently the third & fourth generation, the fourth since their conception,

A magnificent home, I remember as a child, going over there to receptions,

On Halloween we were given a roll of nickels, back then a great amount,

Around Easter an egg hunt in the side yard, one of only a few with trees,

And Christmas, seems I recall, even though I was not blood family,

I was treated as such, and have been ever since, wish I could help…

Fortunately, Greg, who lives there now with his wife and boys,

Is a builder of some notoriety and will I am sure build a new home,

So much better than the old, but it is the fact of its age,

The old home was a part and parcel of their family, with great sage,

It has burned down now, can’t imagine how, brings on a great rage…

These type of home disasters do happen, from them we learn, we adapt,

We grow, and become stronger it is said from negative problems,

My hope is that all who did live there, are recovering under the strain,

Not an easy thing to do for a 14 & 12 year old, but mom and dad,

They have always been there, teaching and nurturing these two boys,

They are as strong as is the family; they are as strong as mom and dad…

Oh, Ed.. how your heart must ache for these special people in your life. Old houses have such character, taking on the personalities and warmth of the generations. Its so good of you to express yourself this way, and I know you will do what you can. Take care... katy xox.
