Today Just Another Day (or so I try to think)

Its a hard day, today, when someone close did die and go away...

Today Just Another Day…(or so I try to think)

Today just another day,

Or so I try to put forth and say,

I cannot believe in my depressed state of mind,

I did try to get others to not write their feelings away…

I apologize for that, my last poem, I did pull,

After reading two rather pointed comments,

From two authors, I rethought the poem, no bull,

Far be it from me to try to disallow others from writing,

I would never want to cover anyone’s eyes with wool…

So, here I sit, trying to get past this day,

Not desiring to the TV watch,

Neither radio, nor on-line newspaper do I today catch,

Rufuz and I will preen, keeping our minds clean,

Don’t want to sound in anyway too mean,

But today to me is just another,

Or so we do try to put forth,

Today we will just try to hide from the world scene…

I don't keep track of days well. Was out late last night tending to business, something that had to be done. If I wasn't checking out the work of fellow writers today on the Web, I wouldn't even know it was 9/11. My brother just missed death that day. He was pissed at his bosses and told them he wasn't coming in; otherwise, he'd have been under The Towers when the planes hit. I'd come in from doing what I do on most days to see it on the news, chauffeuring a kid, and I'll never forget it. It's kind of always with me, more so when I drive over the bridge to NYC.

We must mark the day each year, if for no other reason than to remind terrorist that we're still here and their heinous act neither demeaned nor destroyed us. Our heartfelt gestures--writing poems, prose, moments of introspection, pinning ribbons, the gatherings of hearts at homes and town squares--are so much more meaningful than the capitalistic shams of fake memorial coins and Tower snowglobes.

Pushing people is not my way, dear friend... but don't let the tragedy this day brought you then fester. Speak, write, and, if you can, read, too. It is too often what we refuse to say that becomes the monster that eventually consumes us... you know where to find me. I'm glad you wrote this... don't refuse other writings, if they come knocking on your head and heart. You needn't post, but you must not ignore. Take good care, Eddie M... katy xox.
