Sobriety from an Addiction

I am in the process of interviewing for a new excellent job, one that could put me on the "track" of future happiness and financial freedom...that is the reason for my recent sobriety from smoking the herb...ed

Sobriety from an Addiction…

Funny what sobriety will bring,

No pot for a week,

No longer do I feel weak,

I need not anymore seek…

Would I go back to getting’ high?

Would I do so knowing the reason why?

I know nothing right now; I can only sigh,

Not even to myself can I lie…

I got high just to avoid,

Loneliness nothing more, nothing less,

I must admit that it I really did enjoy,

And knew wholeheartedly the brain cells it destroyed,

Don’t think I was addicted,

For if I were, I have not yet to experience any withdrawal…

So as I climb this mountain so high,

I am reminded of my first joint,

Under a lifeguard row boat when I was but twelve,

From then anywhere I wanted to, even on the school bus,

And in plain view of those that were in authority,

I never did care who knew, I was happy or so I thought,

Never did I ever find myself to get the bust,

Lucked out I did for all these years, as I did so with myself,

Never sold it, never forced anyone to try it, just the self…

Will I do it again, the gods only know?

But sure I do know, yes I would do it again,

For me addiction is easy to quit, no more drinking do I do either,

Got to have will power and the desire to succeed,

This addiction now past, the reason, I wish to succeed in life,

My new job, if I should get it, means more to me than any strife…

Good Luck, Ed, and please send any leftovers of booze to my address. I will dispose of it for you - less temptation that way.

PS Sherry is right - pot stays in the blood stream quite awhile.

Very inlightning piece Ed.

I am not sure what "Pot" is...never been into any drugs...but I guess I have to thank God for that!!

My only addiction is coffee...and talking....I talk way too much everyone tells me!!

Love Tinka
