Shaking off the Chill…

I could have a bloody mary early as suggested,

I could take a hot shower after awakening,

I could also turn on the heater, off for the night,

I could allow the sun to warm us up now that it is light…

It is but ten a.m. and the neighbor across the street has a beer,

Hell, he has several, toting them to his place under the tree so near,

Settling himself in for a day of TV, sleeping and drinking the beer,

Sitting in the sun soaking in the warmth till the winter it does come…

I could have stayed in bed, shaking off the cold,

Two blankets, not nearly cold enough for my electric blankie yet,

Nothing will get done; no money will be made, if in bed I do stay,

The wind it does howl just a bit, but still its warm, the camper does sway,

Rufuz now out on his leash, awaiting his daily ride with dad,

As long as he is with me, nothing can make us both sad…

Another long day on the horizon for the both of us,

But its better than driving a people filled bus,

For we do ride along in the Jeep, after we do it, dust,

Enjoying our tunes, Rufuz sleeping in the rear, me working as I must…

Awwwwww... this was a pleasure-read from one end to the other... visuals , lovely rhyme, thoughts out loud, expressed with quiet observance. I loved this 'slice of YOUR life' write, Eddie M. You two are such a cool pair! katy xox.

Giving Myself 'A' Reason For Going On by RickthePoetWarrior

A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
