This past week in the news…

Simpson sentenced to the chair,

Baretta acquitted, I hope its fair,

Jackson still on trial, of publicity he is getting his share,

J-Lo no longer wants to be called that; she must have blond hair…

A nine-year old girl killed in Florida,

Another Florida kid of five, cuffed and arrested,

Boy, is that mother looking at some bucks from a suit,

They “set my daughter up” is what the mom is already screaming,

How much do you think the kid will get of all the coming loot…?

What the hell is happening to our world?

The kids are running roughshod over the teachers,

Other kids are being killed at nine for no reason it seems,

Where are we eventually headed if five year olds can be handcuffed…?

Iraq is still in the news, but only barely,

The president has other things on his mind,

He starts a war that cannot be ended,

Our boys do die; it was not them who were ultimately offended…

Gas prices are up again,

So from using my own car I have of late abstained,

The news for the day is anything but mundane,

I just wish they would from sensationalism refrain,

Again, what is happening to our earth?

This place we do live and try to prosper, this, our domain…
