Cigarette butts are still litter

Cigarette butts are still litter…

I don’t smoke,

Of cigarettes I have never taken a toke,

My one vice that of cherry coke,

Though I do dispose of the bottles properly, no joke…

When a cigarette butt is thrown from a car,

Or dropped on the ground by a passerby, I find it so bizarre,

They know not to drop paper or cups, putting them in refuse containers,

But cigarette butts or spent cigars,

Are usually just haphazardly thrown away without for anyone regard…

It always makes me sick to see this, by others, habit,

What if it were to land still burning on a rabbit?

Would we be so callous the next time?

Do smokers realize that forest fires have started with less?

I really must confess,

I hope this poem does on someone the enormity of the problem, impress…

Actually, most forest fires are caused by the friction generated by rabbits who don't use lubricant.

Picky . . . Picky . . . Picky!!! However, when you are right, you are right.

Another very sage and thoughtful poetic message, Ed. Many a devastating forest fire has been caused by man's callous dumping of a still smoldering butt. Although I've been known to smoke a cig or cigar once in awhile, I would never toss them out, realizing the dire consequences they can cause.
