Above is the Universal Buddhist flag...

Poem Artwork

Tibetan new year did start yesterday,

Shambhala the day is called they say,

On a differing calendar are these folks,

I do not lie, this is no hoax…

Meditation and offerings are the days order,

Even though the dalai lama cannot cross the border,

He is with them in spirit, his words sent on a tape recorder,

Of the world his eminence is now a boarder…

Free Tibet is heard to be said,

The world must use its head,

And to the world knowledge must be spread,

Tears for country lost are daily shed…

Humans do not allow themselves to stop discriminating enough to enlarge their world. I am a practitioner of daily Zen Buddhism, quieting my mind to become enlightened. The kyosaku is a long, flat stick the monk carries to preside over meditation. Receiving whacks from his stick is an opportunity, as the stick is the sword of Monju, which cuts through illusions. The monk is in charge to whack sitters when he thinks it is necessary. The point is to focus, breathe deep and silent. Good write, Ed. The flag is colorful and meditation in itself, kind of hypnotizing with the different way the stripes are laid.

My son wrote a book of his personal, one liner quotes. Never underestimate the power of simple statements! A very interesting read!
