Sent to a small county newspaper, though I doubt they will print it, as it runs down the summer visitors...

Poem Artwork

I don’t ask for special treatment,

I live here all year & pay a pretty cent,

Hey, you summer day-trippers,

Maybe you could spend something,

Otherwise just leave & get bent…

For those of you who do spend,

We thank you by keeping our beaches nice,

But then you leave on those beaches your trash,

And expect others to just with it live,

Cause you DO in our town spend “some” cash…

As a yearounder I live here most happily,

But have to put up with visitors running us down,

For most of the town services I do pay,

To you, our town is nothing but a bore,

So go elsewhere, we will still survive,

We may not be rich, but we will never be poor,

As we have the beauty that our town has of its shore…

Sounds like you need to move, Yearounder. Get old Cousin TomKat to help you relocate your motor home deep into the Pine Barrens where you'll get lots of privacy. You can even grow your own food (and medicinal herbs) in there.

And after you move, you can finally say:
"I'm Real Proud to be an Old Piney,
From My Head Down to My Hiney!"
