Chronic Pain

I guess this should go under health/wellness, as it isnt really humor but maybe philosophy might do as well...

“Chronic Pain”

Something I have not got,

But know many who do,

Poor souls, wish for Christmas,

That pain, for just one day,

Could be taken away.

Laughter, they say, is the best medicine,

But I don’t think so, at least not for the extreme pain,

Their pain runs too deep to laugh off,

Other than medications, so addictive,

          What can one do?

Prayer, it is said, is an effective remedy,

But one needs to have total faith,

If not, it is a worthless endeavor.

Maybe one can find solace in jest?

      But not me, I guess,

I would rather be addicted to drugs,

Unless, of course, I can find relief in hugs.

If you are in pain,

Don’t strain to complain,

As all you’re doing,

Is missing the point.

Living with pain in this life,

Brings on greater rewards,

In future incarnations,

Although I must admit,

I realize that for now,

This does nothing for the pain,

      On this life-plain…                           [ed]

(((ed)))

i'd love to have a pain free day...been so long, i've forgotten what it's like to feel "normal"

i felt this one, deep in my arthritic, degenerative bones--well done

addiction is not the answer--what i think IS the answer is caring doctors who don't look at us like we're crazy when we want something stronger than tylenol or motrin for relief

(((HUGS))) and love,

karla. :(

Oh my Friend, I feel your pain. This is a very good write. Addiction is not the answer for anyone. It only makes life worse.

Please stop and read my post today. It's called "How to deal with betrayal, rejection, and abuse".

Love,
Patty
