Darkness & Creatures Therein…
Is that a snowy hand reaching through the snow,
To attack, to grasp or simply trying to grow,
Creatures of the night,
In the dark they find their might,
Whereas we, the day creatures, try to find light…
The snow it did come down, to cover its unearthly hand,
To reach out and squeeze those that came near,
The snow all but gone now,
Only a tree, but last night that was plainly unclear…
Fear of the dark, for every child its so stark,
Some they grow out of it, others it continues,
Into adulthood and beyond,
This fear of the dark, is just part of my self-bond…
This fear only in the forests primeval,
I seem to find there, a fright of something most evil,
Something there to grab me and,
Chill me right down to the bone,
But put me on the beach sand,
Right next to Mother Ocean and while I may,
Be just a bit leery initially, all my fears fade,
With one or two passing waves…

I sense an allegory here.
