When
Jesus
As a baby was born
Among the poor creatures alone he lay
Side by side with the Ox and Ass
Silent and scared in the bitter cold
Staring innocently from a bed of hay,
Helpless in the manger, here he was
And now this nativity scene of Jesus, Mary and Joseph there
Two thousand years after this miracle birth
In Bethlehem now to share
Millions of cribs adorn homes,
In churches, in palaces in splendour stand
In nations all big and small,
in schools and everywhere to celebrate the birth over again
It is faith
It is the faith
It is indeed the belief in the birth
Of a saviour lord, the son of God
Was born as a sweet little babe
To a poor poor, pure and pretty virgin,
Blessed maiden full of grace
Save us each moment
Dear Lord we pray
You are the shepherd, I am the lamb
Now depend on you in every way
