This is the ballad of the girl child

Who has suffered so much pain

She has been killed before birth

She has been singled out and raped

Burnt and abused during communal riots

Who has been made to work as  child

Not given her due right

Been fed on leftovers

Been pulled out of schools

Been married off as a child

When grows up to have her way in love

Tortured by  the parents

Killed for honour, to wipe out shame

Sacrificed for name.

This is the ballad of the poor man

Who has  never had the right

To live a care free life

Impoverised and lacking

 The good things in life

 When he remains until death

Most of all to be at the mercy of all other

Crush ego and most times hunger

To gulp it down the gut

May I plug "walkfree.org" an organization dedicated to setting the 30 million humans now in slavery free? You have written so eloquently for them.

There are still so many countries in this world that have no women's right at all. Some met with "honor deaths", and some would simply mysteriously disappear due to family's poverty; or perhaps due to family's preferences. Some countries are still favoring male child over female child. Sad, but true.

You have written the ballad of much of the world's people. Still depressed and in much poverty. The cycle of life being very unkind because of the circumstances they were born into.

This one touched my heart deeply...the inequalities in societies...we can only do our best with our thoughts and actions and political beliefs to change such terrible Inhumanities...
A really well written and deservedly hard hitting piece...

Awww . . . Such things happen the world over, my friend. Mankind has a very distasteful bent, and it seems it will never end. It is so very, very sad what we do to each other.
