You struck a chord when our parents thought my brother and I could become great piano accordion players (in local taverns) when we were about 11. They spent a lot of money on a piano accordion and we were sent to an old man's house for lessons. The very first song that I learned was Fats Domino's, "Mockingbird Hill." But my thoughts of baseball while trying to practice never found my thrill playing that heavy squeezebox and my brother and I both quit after about six months of struggle never getting to the point where we could play, "Lady of Spain." Hell, if they had put a guitar in my hands in those days, I coulda, shoulda, woulda, become a rock star!
It was a couple more years before I began to "find my thrill" in girls…
