'Going Backwards'
We're going backwards
To move forward
Slavery never died
In the cold rivers of our lives
A meaningful existence
Is somewhere else
It's for those who have the means
To exploit the rest of us
You want a life like theirs
To address your needs
With dreams of escape
And some therapy too
To identify the problems
Of your existence
But the pressure presses on
The daily slog you live
They have what they have
And they don't intend to give
A better life to live in
