This was written the night before my father died. It turned out to be prophetic.

Night falls as silently as peace
Only those looking for it can see
The truth behind the words of grief
For which I now can hear

Knowing the future is a burden
One which I chose not to carry
But some things are set in stone
Like the death of parent

I know the agony of suffering
I know the peace of relief
But how can you chose
When one choice creates both

I feel the passing of each second
As painfully as a heart breaking
As one whom I dearly love
Is soon to pass from me

I know the future is just that
There is no right or wrong
You can’t bribe death from it’s calling
Like you can’t change a heart’s love

Now one question still remains
What path do I take
The path of grief is hard and trying
But the path of life is more of the same
