There’s something about distance

That makes the mind work harder

To find those common thoughts

Of all things that are familiar

It doesn’t matter how far I roam

Or how close I am to our home

Distance works its magic upon me

And tricks my mind into numbness

I sense things that are stranger

Than if I was in the comfort

Of my home and my lover’s arms

Not distanced from all that is close

How do I reason with this delusion

When everything I see is wanted

Not the darker thoughts that haunt

But a bridge closing the distance
