Sometimes what we perceive to be true is in fact false. Other times what we perceive to be false is in fact true ...we must decide
The Misconception of Life
Often interjected by error Introspected hardly ever
We don’t appreciate the retrospection while embracing future endeavors
We haven’t learned from the past: what we don’t want but, we can do better
I’m saying, we are given chances to enjoy forever
But instead we stay in our comfort zone while our pillows get wetter
We’d rather keeps the windows closed
Sentencing sunlight to death without parole
Curled up in the fetal position, no warmth it’s so cold
All alone and so destitute; there is no one to console
We fail to understand that our future is what we do control
But we’d rather give permission to the pain, lie down and take over our souls
Running races and seeing happy faces
Cheering us on to the finish line, first places
They didn’t see the prep talk we gave in the mirror, sad faces
And we reject the support of those who love us while still chasing
The thought of what we hope to have, we refused to face it
But we’d rather push true love away instead of embracing
You see, the misconception of life is that happiness is reserved for those with credentials
For some the slave mentality dictates eventual potential
For some we forsake ownership and are proud of a rental
For some we refuse education but ignorance, we gladly take it
We expect success to knock at the front door without having to walk around the neighborhood to find it
We expect to stand at the top of the mountain and claim it without having to climb it
We expect to feel Florida degrees but won’t leave Rhode Island climate
Read between the lines for that one, I dare you to find it
For some we refuse true love if it doesn’t reflect the self-painted portrait; the picture in our heads
We throw in the towel; we refuse to play the game; we gladly accept the forfeit.
We accept low class instead.
Work is required if you desire to succeed.
You need to know that work is essential if you desire to compete.
So add the work if you feel your life is incomplete…
