Baseless are the emotions

That grip me like a vise.

For I cannot let them go-

They have wounded my soul.

How can I  a simple soul

Be hounded by such thoughts?

And still I cling to them;

They are so much part of me.

No love has ever replaced,

That which was once so new.

It was the morning sun to me,

In a world that has since long gone.

Death steals life and all its thoughts

But lets them linger in those who lost.

No the days of such a love

Can never be consumed again.

Fortunate are those who find

A new love to cherish.

It can happen, as I have learned.

But I will never feel it, my day has gone.

Your first true love is never forgotten...
All love is different, that is sure...
but to say "death" steals life I must disagree...
For those that cross over only the body is gone...
the legacy they leave is not forgotten...

Love can always be found, each and every sort of love
is special sweet George...

Hugs...

A sad reality, George. I am in the same boat although we will never be able to physically meet and touch, the love on both our parts is at least very real. As I said in my poem yesterday, I'm "jammed between
optimism and misery."
