Bookmark on the page of life

That I left off and never came back.

Wandering in the sea of thoughts

That my mind never seems to lack.

Swimming, sometimes against the tide,

That I can't get past and am pushed back.

It is a struggle, but fun all the same,

Wishing I was younger, with a stronger back.

But time and tide do not dally,

They will sweep you away

If you lose your strength and not fight back.

Some battles just don't go your way.

life is a constant struggle, we should never refrain from toiling with ...

good work, George ... enjoyed the message as well as method of its expression ...

Very strong work, George. I particularly love the first stanza and its metaphors, and how you work your way through to the end. That sense of "battling" is stark against the opening line of the stillness and quiet sense of place of the bookmark on the page of life. Hope all is well on LI. xx

I have so many bookmarks in my book of life that I can't even close it anymore! It's open for all to see and that's O.K.. If all the battles went our way what would we learn from them? Keep on writing your wonderful words!

Love ya!

such is life George, but it's our
own determination won or not that
makes each of us strong... that is
strong in who we are... sometimes
all that is needed is a truce :)
