An inveterate liar sees

A prism in his thoughts

And marvels at its beauty

When light makes it glow.

He can shape his words

So that they are like a prism,

Brilliant at any angle,

Seemingly to be the truth.

Would that it were this simple.

That lies beget lies and all is well.

Deception deceives the reader,

When it is presented to mask the truth.

An ego bent on destruction,

Can fabricate his words with sincerity.

A liar knows how to be clever,

For his lies to be convincing.

Love the first stanza. I think the second stanza simply restates the first but not as well. In the third stanza, "is honed" seems understated. Maybe polishes or buffs or shines, something that makes the liar the doer instead of it just happening to him. Then in the last stanza, "sublime" is an understatement. I understand that sociopaths think everybody other than themselves are stupid. "For a liar knows how to be (blank)" instead of must know how to be, which makes it less passive. And "accepted" seems understated as well. I like the thought and the first stanza very much.

I enjoyed reading your well-written poem today. It is portraying
both deception and the liar really well, they goes hand in hand.
good write.

A perfect description of the sociopaths among us. I wonder why, so often they take positions of power and control with their lies.
