Walking down the avenue,

Waving to folks I know.

It is a boulevard where

Dreams seemed to grow.

So many times I walked,

Stopping now and then to talk.

We shared the local gossip,

On this avenue I walked.

Then I met a lass, full of class,

Dated her every day I could.

A war came along, said so long,

I remember where she stood.

It seemed like a life time,

When she was not in my arms.

But when the war was over,

She married me, my girl of charms.

You've painted the archetype of love and romance here, George - and for you it was for real and not just a dream, you lucky guy! Your enduring fascination with this lovely lady oozes through each line of your narrative. You have both been immensely blessed. xx

Reads like a fairytale. You've had a charmed life. So many did not come back from World War II and two of my uncles who had children divorced during the war.
