There are hills we climb
That shorten our breath.
Leaving us in panic,
They will cause our death.
Yet each hill we climb
Our lungs adjust to.
Fear cannot be a factor,
Yet it affects a few.
We breathe in and out every day,
And never give it a thought.
One day our breath gets labored,
Fighting for air is sought.
Scary is an understatement
That occurs with each breath.
What was once unnoticed
Becomes a fight to beat death.
