I rarely lose a thought

That wasn't meant to be.

Oh sure some slip by

But others come back to me.

They can hide behind my shadows,

But where are they without my light.

I am not an egotistic shallow fellow

Nor do I think I'm very bright.

But when the light of thought blinds me,

It's then I see what lies behind.

I see the mountains and I atop them;

The sun enhances the whole world to me.

The last line may be correlated with Icarus, therefore, I see it properly placed. The question is: What the next step will be taken from there to bear the fruit? Will he follow his own dazzling thought or that of Daedalus, his good father, who is a man of rational thought of flying lower but long-term? The latter is a true attribute of Heaven and the sun, not the former, the feature of ignorant heroes and the subjects of great myths. Cheers, alex

I really love the thought of this poem. And it flows so beautifully as I read it. Only the last line seems a bit incongruous.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
