When the smoke cleared
And I could see more clearly.
I noticed there were tears being shed,
And guessed it was for the dead.
Hours before there was just silence
Erie silence so that you could pray.
Then the racket of war began
Screams and bodies strewn on the ground.
War is hell only when experienced.
A bystander can't see the fray
Or hear the moans of those dying.
And realize the fear you may be next.
Love ya!
