It seems I've run the course

And a few laps more but still

There is more to do.

Gotta get off my ass more.

Old time friends keep dying

Till there ain't any more around.

My day getting closer, I think

But I'll let God call the shots.

Still in fair shape for an old timer.

50 lbs over my fighting weight,

But you can't have every thing.

Close to knocking a poem out every day.

OLD TIMERS DON'T FUNCTION BY THEIR OWN STRENGTH AND WE COME TO THE PLACE WHERE WE ARE WISE ENOUGH TO RECOGNIZE AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT WE NEVER DID. SO WE 'LEAN' ON OUR MAKER, RELYING ON 'HIM' FOR 'ALL' THINGS- EACH MOVEMENT, EACH BREATH...EACH POEM. THANKS FOR SHARING, GEORGE...PRESS ON! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

If you can keep writing poems, you can't be that old. Keep at it, George. You've got a few years on me, but I am following close behind. John

"Knocking out a poem a day" sounds like a pretty good plan for routine that you kept up for many years and will probably keep up for many more. As long as it doesn't become a burden to your already narrowing lifestyle, this part of you will thrive.

Keep on keeping on and producing these interesting, thought-provoking, gems of wisdom.

When I was younger, an old timer told me, When you're young, you go to birthday parties and weddings. When you get older you go to funerals. As I've gotten older, I have found his words to spot on.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
