Out of the window she does stare
at the flowers planted there
her eyes fasten on the rose
her favorite among all of those
it has beauty, it has charm
but when she gathered them into her arms
it was the thorns that pricked her hands
just like the thorns of man
in the world so much beauty to behold
yet a world so often cold
still she looks upon the rose
and the thorns of life it holds
to handle the beauty of the rose
one must accept the thorns it holds !
I enjoyed reading your lovely poem today about the rose. That is how
life goes, you have to take the good with the bad. Life is not always a bed or roses there is thorns like your verses remind us that sometimes comes into our lives and plucks away at our heart, it hurts just like the thorns and leave a sting there sometimes forever unless we Pray and ask God to give us the strength to carry on.
Love reading your "Well-Written Poem"
Pass the pleasure, hold the pain, stillborn life, no guts, no gain. This pithy poem with floral images sits atop a well-worn hill... the path is clear, yet footfalls sure, still do an old heart good to hear. It is in living we learn to die, and it is in bleeding we learn to fly, for life is rising above the pain, to hear Keats' deep refrain: "Beauty is truth, truth beauty. That is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know."
A wise observation. I once saw a movie about a young French couple. She was a hemophiliac. While admiring a rose her lover gave her, she pricked her finger and start to bleed. As they traveled around France she continued to bleed and died at the tragic end.
