This morning I had a little chat with my kitty cat Rama
after all, he too is evolving.
We discussed the virtues of setting boundaries.

I reminded him of the days when he used to sprint
through the fenced yard in joyful abandon chasing lizards
and other interesting critters, until that fateful day he
scaled the fence and we spent a stressful day
searching for him.

This happened a few times, finally we were forced
to restrict his freedom and movements in the yard.
Up went the kitty playhouse, fun run, halter and leash.

Dear Rama, all the Sages of yore
have instructed us to regulate our senses
and practice moderation in life.
This ensures happiness,
more freedom and contentment.

Ponder on this:
a person recklessly, freely consumes sugar
or alcohol the result is disease and even further restrictions.
This applies to all the sense organs, mental and emotional
functions.

The Buddha advised we practice right use of the senses.
Sai Baba instructs us to speak softly and sweetly.
This is wise use of free speech. A Sathwic lifestyle certainly
assists us towards this noble end.

If the stars, planets and galaxies observed no boundaries and
moved carelessly out of their orbits,
there would be utter chaos and destruction in the universe.

So my furry love if we wish to enjoy a
peaceful life and assure favorable future lives.
We should seek ways to purify and regulate
our thoughts, word and deeds.

Rama looked at me lovingly as if his cat Soul
truly comprehended my brief discourse.
Together we swayed in the garden jhoola
singing bhajans and reveling in the
splendor of this awesome creation.
