This the first time that I've read of "pain and suffering" from you. I hope that it is temporary.

I find that when I am reading others' work or working on my own, hours go by without feeling any pain or irritation at all. It is only when I stop focusing and working to reflect, that I suddenly find pain coming back in the usual places that disappeared while I was working. No prayers needed.

I do this sometimes. It's so evocative of the need to go within and turn toward the inner world of deep silence.
