What a beautiful gift. I went into the backyard this morning after breakfast.
At first, I sat in the wrought iron glider a bit with David but it was blazing hot. So, I moved into the shade by the bird feeder. While sitting there, I decided to do Gayatri Mantra on my crystal Mala Bracelet, David was taking a snooze.
Feeling relaxed, I continued with the mantra. After some time I heard distinct twittery sounds on the left coming from the big red hibiscus bush. I turned to look and saw a little creature darting around the branches. At first I thought it was a giant bug, but a closer look revealed that it was a delightful, heavenly HUMMINGBIRD!!! Swami knows I simply adore hummingbirds. Really such a magical bird.
I watched awhile as he dipped his long beak into the hibiscus blossoms, seeking the nectar of the gods. I wanted to share this with David but he was in Dreamland and I was afraid I would disturb the hummingbird. It rested on a branch it's long beak pointed towards the clarion blue skies like a tiny trumpet. I have never seen it rest before, they are usually in constant motion.
Soon the sweet little bird resumed its task.
I was really so excited I sat up hoping to share this ambrosial experience with David. I said, "nectar" my voice slightly elevated. The hummingbird looked at me out the side of its eye and flew off.
