front room window
their satin white plumage
glistening in the afternoon sun
long orange beaks plucking
grazing on the rich
loamy ebony earth
Such a beautiful Florida bird!
Suddenly my niece Carina
zooms pass my window
on roller skates
dressed completely in black
a dynamic contrast to her rosy olive
half Estonian/Jamaican complexion
Well, me thinks
it's a lovely day for gardening
I roll my chair outside and
Snip...snip...snip
spent brown leaves from
the grateful purple Iris
