Coconuts in bunches on the trees
short dwarfed trees with leafy palms
they grow in line on the green grass
their branches hanging over the wall with
spiked rails, to ward the intruders off.
Its juices would relinquish endless days
of thirst and hunger.
The juices from the coconut, its white
flesh on the inside, its delicacy mounted in pride.
Like apples, its look is tempting its juice is filling
and for every passer-by,its calls with a willing.
With sharpened blades they walk
and in their group they talk
of the longing on the trees
its palms swaying in the quiet
evening breeze.
I pray of you sire
as I die of thirst
may I have but one humble coconut
before I burst?
My need is dire
will you have a heart
and help me with that little start?
