Rise Above
The head is heavy
Eyes unfocused
Lower back needs
Hocus pocus.
Back strap tight
Around the middle
Its Velcro binding
Relief not finding
Blinding rain that comes again
Although the spring has blossomed
Dogwood white and poppy orange.
Blues skies are gone, we lost ‘em.
One last snow, one last kiss
One last blow to let me know
What you see is what you get
Now you know, you haven’t yet
Found the one, the one to love
The one who rises well above
All the others you have had
Its sad to wallow, not be glad
You’ve had more love
Than those who don’t
Take the risk and fall in love
Just forget the ones that won’t,
So hold on to hope and rise above.
