We are always blinded by our own desires, imagination and taking for granted the lives of those close to you. Good or bad you'll never fill their shoes and no one can fill yours.
Did you know who your Mother was?
She was the loving hands that held you on that first day you were born,
She was the one that eased your stressful nights till early morn,
She was the one that quickly tended your every cry alarm,
She was the one that protected you from every childhood harm,
She was the one that kissed you bye on that first day of school,
She was the one that solved your problems and always kept her cool,
She was the one that gave up her all when family income fell,
She was the one that took two jobs and worked at home as well,
She was the one ,if you remember, built wedding cakes at night,
She was the one while you slept in comfort was still baking till daylight
,
She was the one that had no time for travels other folks had done,
She was the one that had no time for TV, games and fun,
She was the one that taught you how to make it on your own,
She was the one that supported you when heartaches turned to stone,
She was the one that gave you advice about how to choose a mate,
She was the one that you found was right, after you turned thirty eight,
She was the one that heard it all, details of your distress,
She was the one that hurt the most, with tears you’d never guess,
She was the one you thought hard hearted, when failures were outstanding,
She was the one, your thinking failed, with a heart of understanding,
She was the one that gave all she could from her meager treasure,
She was the one with a loving heart that never had a measure,
She was the one that prayed for you and asked the Lord to bless,
She was the one that took greatest pride in all your life’s success,
She was the one that held your kids with love that made her glow ,
She was the one that baby sat, what pleasure she would show,
She was the one that worked at Christmas ,always on the go ,
She was the one that made the greatest candy, don’t you know,
She was the one that filled her cup, with helpfulness and care ,
She was the one, that took greatest pleasure in all that she could share
,
She was the one that stepped to the plate, and took things on her own
She was the one that carried on when, life left her alone,
She was the one that fought the lonely, broken heart and grief,
She was the one, that had to live with faith in her belief,
She was the one that hurt for a visit, her empty house so lonesome,
She was the one that knew most were busy and they might never come,
She was the one, you put off to visit for the things you needed done,
She was the one that “My God, she died!” Yeah, she was the one.
Appropriate for Mother's Day to the tenth. But probably posted now because you wrote it and wanted to get it out. You have described my mother nearly 95% of her life. The only thing that didn't ring true was the last line. Everyone knew. When she died last January after suffering so much the last few years, it was a blessing for those of us who she touched, not a surprise.
As the year comes to and end one looks back and reflects on the life they've lived and people who are no longer here.
